A runner-up in the 2018 Made in the South Awards, Birmingham-based Richardson Axeworks sources vintage materials to use for their line of artisan axes and hatchets.

Each piece starts with hand-selecting the right components—in this case, a vintage hatchet and wood sourced from the good old USA. The hickory wood handles are meticulously shaped, polished, and burned, then coated with a protective tobacco oil finish that enhances the beauty of the natural wood grain.
